Version v1-2026-05-21

1. Who we are

MoveQuoteLocal.co.uk operates a UK lead generation and quote comparison platform introducing customers to independent removals and cleaning companies. We are the data controller for the personal information you submit through this website. You can reach us at support@movequotelocal.co.uk.

2. GDPR & ICO compliance

We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and ICO guidance. Our lawful bases are (a) your explicit consent for sharing your enquiry with Partners and for any marketing you opt in to, and (b) our legitimate interests in operating the platform securely and providing customer support.

3. What we collect

  • Contact details: name, email, phone number.
  • Move details: pick-up and delivery addresses, postcodes, dates, property size, access notes, special items.
  • Survey media: photos you choose to upload.
  • Consent records: which boxes you ticked, the versions of the Terms and Privacy Policy in force, IP address, browser/device information and a timestamp.
  • Technical data: session identifiers, basic analytics events.

4. How we store it

Data is stored on EU/UK-region cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Uploaded photos are kept in a private storage bucket with signed, time-limited URLs, are blocked from search-engine indexing, and are automatically scheduled for deletion 72 hours (3 days) after upload.

5. Consent logging

Every quote submission writes a consent record containing the lead reference, each individual consent statement you accepted, the policy versions in force, your IP address, browser information and a UTC timestamp. This audit log lets us demonstrate the legal basis for any Partner introduction.

6. Partner data sharing

With your explicit consent, your enquiry is shared with up to two verified Partners so they can prepare a quote. Partners are contractually bound to use your information only for that purpose, to comply with UK data protection law, and not to resell, redistribute or use your data for unauthorised marketing. Partners are independent data controllers for the data they hold.

We do not sell your data to third parties, brokers or marketing networks.

7. Cookies & session usage

We use a small number of essential cookies and browser-session storage for authentication, referral attribution and privacy-friendly analytics. You can manage non-essential cookies via the cookie banner. We do not use cross-site advertising trackers.

8. Your rights

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction & objection — limit how we use your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.

9. Deletion requests

To request deletion of your data, email support@movequotelocal.co.uk with the subject line "Data deletion request" and the lead reference if you have one. We will confirm within 30 days and remove personal identifiers from our active systems. Anonymised aggregate analytics may be retained.

10. Retention

Active enquiries: up to 12 months from last contact. Uploaded media: 72 hours (3 days) from upload; unused leads are auto-deleted after 90 days. Consent logs and invoicing records: retained as required for legal and tax purposes (up to 7 years). When a Partner account is removed, their access to customer data is revoked immediately.

11. Security

Access to customer data is restricted to authenticated Partner/admin users via role-based access control with session timeouts. Admin accounts require an additional security code. All connections use TLS. Audit logs track lead access, downloads, document uploads and admin actions — see our Terms & Conditions.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

13. Updates

We may update this Policy from time to time. The version in force when you submit an enquiry is the one recorded against your consent.
