Privacy Policy

Version v1 — 21 May 2026

1. Who we are

MoveQuoteLocal.co.uk operates a UK lead marketplace introducing customers to independent removals companies. We are the data controller for the personal information you submit through this website. You can reach us at support@movequotelocal.co.uk.

2. GDPR compliance

We process personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our lawful bases are (a) your explicit consent for sharing your enquiry with removals partners, and (b) our legitimate interests in operating the platform securely and providing customer support.

3. What we collect

  • Contact details: name, email, phone number.
  • Move details: pick-up and delivery addresses, postcodes, dates, property size, access notes, special items.
  • Survey media: photos and videos you choose to upload.
  • Consent records: which boxes you ticked, the version of the Terms and Privacy Policy in force, and a timestamp.
  • Technical data: IP address (stored as a placeholder reference), browser/session identifiers and basic analytics events.

4. How we store it

Data is stored on EU/UK-region cloud infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest. Uploaded photos and videos are kept in a private storage bucket with signed, time-limited URLs and are automatically scheduled for deletion 60 days after upload unless your enquiry is still active.

5. Consent logging

Every quote submission writes a consent record containing the lead reference, the consent statements you accepted, the policy versions in force, an IP placeholder and a UTC timestamp. This log is retained so we can demonstrate the legal basis for any partner introduction.

6. Partner data sharing

With your explicit consent, your enquiry is shared with up to two verified removals partners so they can prepare a quote. Partners are contractually bound to use your information only for that purpose and to comply with UK data protection law. Partners are independent data controllers for the data they hold.

We do not sell your data to third parties, brokers or marketing networks.

7. Cookies & session usage

We use a small number of essential cookies and browser-session storage for:

  • Keeping you signed in to partner/admin areas.
  • Remembering referral source (e.g. ?ref= / utm_source) so leads are attributed to the right partner site.
  • Privacy-friendly analytics (page views, conversions) — only enabled where lawful and with consent where required.

We do not use cross-site advertising trackers.

8. Your rights

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restriction & objection — limit how we use your data.
  • Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing.

9. Deletion requests

To request deletion of your data, email support@movequotelocal.co.uk with the subject line "Data deletion request" and the lead reference if you have one. We will confirm within 30 days and remove personal identifiers from our active systems. Anonymised aggregate analytics may be retained.

10. Retention

Active enquiries: up to 12 months from last contact. Uploaded media: 60 days by default. Consent logs and invoicing records: retained as required for legal and tax purposes (up to 7 years).

11. Security

Access to customer data is restricted to authenticated partner/admin users via role-based access control with session timeouts. Admin accounts require a separate security code. All connections use TLS.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

13. Updates

We may update this Policy from time to time. The version in force when you submit an enquiry is the one recorded against your consent.
